This page covers two things: the The Feeling Forest app, and this website. They work differently, so each has its own section below.

The The Feeling Forest app

The short version

The The Feeling Forest app collects no personal information — not from children, and not from grown-ups. The app has no accounts, works completely offline, and sends nothing, to anyone, ever.

What the app collects: nothing

  • No names, photos, voices, messages, or free text — the app never asks for any.
  • No accounts and no sign-in.
  • No location, contacts, camera, or microphone access.
  • No analytics, advertising, or tracking of any kind. There are no third-party services inside the app.
  • No network use. The app is fully offline by design — every story moment, voice recording, and activity ships inside the app itself. It works the same in airplane mode.

What stays on your device — and only there

The app keeps a few small settings on your device so it works the way you set it up: things like the breathing pace you chose, whether read-aloud is on, and which discussion questions were recently shown (tracked by number only, so questions don't repeat too soon).

What the app deliberately does not keep: any record of your child's feelings. The daily check-in is ephemeral by design — the app keeps no diary, log, or history of what your child felt or chose, and nothing from a session is echoed back later. This isn't just a policy; the app has no place to store such a record.

These settings never leave your device. Deleting the app deletes them.

Children's privacy

The Feeling Forest is made for young children and their grown-ups to use together. Because the app collects nothing, it collects no personal information from children under 13 (or anyone else) as defined by COPPA and similar laws. Actions that leave the app — printing, sharing, or following a link — are protected by a grown-ups-only gate.

Ads and purchases: none

The app contains no advertising, no in-app purchases, and no prompts to buy anything.

Beta versions (TestFlight)

If you're testing a beta through Apple's TestFlight, Apple may share with us the feedback you choose to send and, if you opt in, crash reports — under Apple's own terms and privacy policy. If you email us feedback directly, we'll see your email address and use it only to reply.

This website

Our website, thefeelingforest.com, is a separate experience from the app, with its own practices — described here.

When you sign up for the free Feeling Weather Map, we collect your email address so we can send you the printable and occasional gentle updates and free resources from The Feeling Forest.

We store your email with our email service provider and never sell or share it. There are no pre-checked marketing boxes — signing up is your consent to receive these emails, and every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link. You can opt out at any time.

We use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics to understand which parts of the page are helpful. This does not track you across other sites.

This site is for grown-ups. The email we ask for is a parent's or caregiver's — never a child's — and we never knowingly collect any information from a child. The weather check-in on our page happens right in your browser: nothing is stored, and nothing is sent anywhere. The app makes the same promise — see the app section above.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, we'll update it here with a new effective date. Since the app collects nothing, we expect changes to be rare and boring.
